My position as an Operations Specialist gives me a unique, in-depth view into each of our support programs that most employees at the specialist level don’t get to see. I have the opportunity to on-board new employees for every position and see them through their first week of training. Although I don’t work directly with clients as often, I know I have the power to affect our clients’ lives from a different side. I organize and supply training to our employees so they are able to provide the best level of service possible. I get to work one-on-one with all managers and directors to ensure we are hiring the most qualified staff for our clients. I create systems to ensure we are doing this in the best, most efficient way possible. It is so rewarding to see one of my trainees come back to our Kimbark office a few weeks after training and tell me stories about the strides one of their clients has made.
Another great part of my job is getting to tell the trainees about the aspects of the company that have impressed me since I’ve started. During our Company Trajectory training, we tell them about all the new businesses we are opening up or plan to open in the near future. Everyone is always impressed by the variety of employment opportunities we strive to provide for our clients, but I love to remind them that we are offering these new opportunities to our staff members as well. If any one of our current employees is interested in social services, restaurant work, jewelry making, rocks and minerals, breweries, catering, therapy services, event planning, farming, foster care, or summer camps, we have opportunities for them to explore those interests! It’s so unique and I can’t imagine finding this kind of growth opportunity anywhere else. It’s honestly the most rewarding job around.
