Choose One of Our Social Work Internship Options

"Interning at Sample Supports is one of the best experiences I have ever had. The staff is inviting, encouraging, and knowledgeable, which promotes an atmosphere of growth in both knowledge and skill. During my time at Sample, I was given the opportunity to utilize what I was learning with individuals and in a group setting. Along with interacting directly with individuals in services, the staff introduced me to clinical documentation, state documentation, and collaboration with various state and local institutions. I worked closely with my supervisor, who offered practical insight and guidance, so that I was honing my skill set, learning new skills, and offering better service to the individuals I served with each interaction. Interning at Sample Supports is the best way to gain clinical experience and develop as a profession in the field."

Social Work Internship Opportunities
Internships have been an integral part of Sample Supports. We have developed our four options to hone in on specific interests and skills including:
  • Assisted living
  • Individuals with IDD diagnosis
  • Policies and procedures in the social work field
  • Foster care
  • Substance abuse
  • Mental health
Our interns not only gain knowledge and expand their experience in the field to grow professionally, many of them experience exciting personal growth as well. We strive to foster and develop creativity and excellence with our social workers. These internships often lay the foundation for future employment, as members of our directors team as well as our Chief Operating Officer have all participated in our internship program. Interns will receive 1:1 supervision on a weekly basis. In addition, there will be opportunity for additional group supervision with other licensed staff and other interns. Our supervision model incorporates standing items (i.e. individuals in services caseload, internship hours/scheduling, two-way feedback, etc.), and use of agenda.  In addition, supervisors are available outside of regularly scheduled supervision by phone and/or email. Learn more about each of our four opportunities below and reach out to us today to get started!

A major part includes the clinical counseling pieces where co-facilitation is set up with DUI education, DUI Therapy, and Relapse Prevention groups. We work with our interns to review processes for intakes and develop clinical counseling skills. Our program also gives insight into what goes on behind-the-scenes including: policies, procedures, tracking, and Medicaid systems. This well-balanced internship is ideal for individuals looking to work side by side with our clinical team to develop counseling skills.

Some interns work within behavior services, where behavioral assessments, counseling, and training are the focus. Others who enjoy the residential side of things, learn the administrative pieces to ensure health and safety, get a taste of the balance of policies and procedures, and see first hand how behavioral intervention and family systems work.
