Internship Opportunities
What does an internship at Sample Supports look like?
We work to encourage interns to learn from daily experiences and from the values that Sample Supports embraces and strives to instill in each student. Our philosophy towards internships includes:
Supervision. Interns will receive 1:1 supervision on a weekly basis. In addition, there will be opportunity for additional group supervision with other licensed staff and other interns. Supervision model incorporates standing items (i.e. individuals in services caseload, internship hours/scheduling, two-way feedback, etc.), and use of agenda. Supervisors are available outside of regularly schedule supervision by phone and/or email.

"Interning at Sample Supports is one of the best experiences I have ever had. The staff is inviting, encouraging, and knowledgeable, which promotes an atmosphere of growth in both knowledge and skill. During my time at Sample, I was given the opportunity to utilize what I was learning with individuals and in a group setting. Along with interacting directly with individuals in services, the staff introduced me to clinical documentation, state documentation, and collaboration with various state and local institutions. I worked closely with my supervisor, who offered practical insight and guidance, so that I was honing my skill set, learning new skills, and offering better service to the individuals I served with each interaction. Interning at Sample Supports is the best way to gain clinical experience and develop as a profession in the field."

“I interned with Sample Supports and Sample Clinical Services for two years while working toward my MSW. They offered the unique opportunity to serve individuals in every program, as opposed to strict focus in one area. This allowed me to work under several wonderful mentors and build a wide range of skills, including: case management; program development; community organization; direct care; assessment; and counseling. They supported new ideas and allowed me to organize regular events to help individuals in services connect with their community, and build relationships. I was able to experience many of the different roles social workers may take and encouraged to find my niche.”
