There are nearly half a million children in the United States who are living in foster care. Many of these children and youth have intellectual disabilities, which can make it difficult for them to maintain stable placements within their communities
If you are thinking about opening your home to a foster child with an intellectual disability, know that you have the power to make a tremendous difference in their life. By providing them with love, support, and understanding, you can help them thrive.
Sample Supports residential program certifies and supports foster parents to care for youth living with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We provide top-notch resources and support to families who are interested in fostering children with intellectual disabilities.
When becoming a certified foster home with Sample Supports you will have access to our trained and knowledgeable support staff. Each foster parent receives ongoing annual training specific to youth living with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Our support staff is available 24/hours a day, seven days a week to provide assistance and guidance as needed.
In addition to our supportive services, Sample Supports also provides each foster family with a monthly stipend to help offset the cost of caring for their foster child. At Sample Supports, we understand that every child is unique and deserves a loving home. We are here to provide ongoing support to every caregiver so each home has the ability to provide individualized care for children and youth across Colorado.
